Rob is a local legend know as ‘the flag man’ around the Long Eaton area. Rob’s major challenge has been walking on average 10miles per day, every day, for 500 days in a row. The commitment that Rob has shown to raising funds for Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) research is unbelievable.
Rob approached me not long after my Arch to Arc event and suggested meeting for a drink to chat through his ‘finale’ this August. As Rob Burrow was a key drive for both Rob and my own personal fundraising towards MND charities, Rob Tiffney, wanted to finish his last walk with a 77mile journey to no other than Headingley stadium. I’ve therefore been helping Rob with planning the route, making sure it is safe for a group of walkers, editing the GPX files, and I’ve even cycled the first 50miles to take some video commentary of what he can expect on the day.
Key to this challenge is a good support team, who are well equipped, with a mini-bus for supporting the group, plenty of food and drink, knowledge of the route and when stops may be required, as the route will be quite undulating in places as it passes from Derbyshire to Yorkshire. During my months of training for the Arch to Arc, I bumped into Rob on so many occasions, he’s always happy and cheerful, no matter what the weather and he has raised an absolutely staggering amount of money for MNDA. Good luck Rob in your finale day.
